Four years ago when Kitty O’Hara picked up a paintbrush to beautify some donated wooden trays while volunteering at a local non-profit program, she had no idea she was about to launch a new career for herself….but that is exactly what she did. The director of the program saw her artwork and his encouragement gave her the confidence to embark on a new professional path….a path she had always dreamed of as a youth but never pursued.
Rediscovering her artistic talent and a passion for creating scenes which take us back in time, O’Hara has now brought her talents to a new professional level and recently opened her own gallery in Quechee, Vermont.
Today, Miss Kitty (as her friends call her) is quite prolific, creating acrylic paintings that run the gamut from landscapes, interiors, portraits and more. O’Hara has no favorite subject matter but rather sees the beauty in everyday items ranging from an old pair of ice-skates in the corner of a room to a watering can on the porch. She feels the beauty which surrounds us and can transpose the mundane into a scene of beauty. Although she describes her work as ‘realistic’, it is evident that her style is unique and goes beyond ‘realism’.
The shadows and rays of light which are infused throughout her paintings create scenes that speak to her audience and exude a sense of calm and beauty. The artwork of Kitty O’Hara offers a fresh view into the world of art.
